Today’s #MusicMonday was supposed to post on last Monday or the Monday before for the today’s artist’s birthday.
The song I’ve chosen is by the beautiful and talented Tina Turner. Her birthday was on November 26th.
I won’t get into how I came about knowing this song, but I will say that I love this song way too much. I believe that it is because of the way she sung it, and the meaning of this song.
I had read that she wasn’t feeling the song at first since the song is an anti-love song, but was convinced it would be a hit. (I hope I had read that right.) I can understand that a person who believes in love would balk at the idea of recording such a song at first.
I love it and I love her. She has this energy that amazes and excites me. Years ago, it had never dawned on me that this song is an anti-love song. I do believe in love even if it hasn’t found me…yet.
I picked this song to say that most people do think this way about love. It’s something that is only physical and not an emotional thing according to them. I won’t go deep into this concept because we all know about these types of people.

I don’t want to turn a blind eye to the people that believe this, because everyone is subject to believe in whatever they want. I can only hope it’s not something bad what they will believe in (other than love.) I wanted to share because I once didn’t believe love could actually exist. Okay, a few times.
It had seemed like to me that some people doesn’t want to feel nor experience love in any other way because they do not want their heart broken. They don’t want to be cheated on, lied to, hurt in any other way, etc.
It’s is understandable for any person would want to guard their heart. I figured they have to do what they can to protect it, and themselves.
LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
You must understand though the touch of your hand
Makes my pulse react
That it’s only the thrill of boy meeting girl
Opposites attract
It’s physical
Only logical
You must try to ignore that it means more than that
[Chorus]
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
What’s love but a second-hand emotion?
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
[Verse 2]
It may seem to you that I’m acting confused
When you’re close to me
If I tend to look dazed I’ve read it someplace
I’ve got cause to be
There’s a name for it
There’s a phrase that fits
But whatever the reason you do it for me
[Chorus]
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
What’s love but a second-hand emotion?
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
[Bridge]
I’ve been taking on a new direction
But I have to say
I’ve been thinking about my own protection
It scares me to feel this way
[Chorus]
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
What’s love but a second-hand emotion?
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
[Chorus]
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
What’s love but a sweet old-fashioned notion?
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
[Chorus]
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
What’s love but a second-hand emotion?
What’s love got to do, got to do with it?
Who needs a heart when a heart can be broken?
[Outro]
What’s love?
Got to do it
Got to do it
What’s love?
