I chose today’s song because not only because I love the video so much, but because of the reminder on how people would casually break others’ hearts. And they realize it too late what the person had meant to them.
There are times I remember so vividly when a guy who I thought was interested in me, come to find out he was just playing those stupid games like most will do. Then when I felt like I had enough and distance myself from him, he supposedly figured out he wanted something “real” or serious with me.
Whatever.
That happened more than once to me from different people who realized too late what they actually wanted. It is also a shame when we would often give those people a second or third chance just to be screwed over again.
The song, Cheyenne, sung by Jason Derulo is about a guy who let a woman get away because he didn’t want anything serious at first. It’s funny in a not so ha-ha way how that works. He realized he had fallen in love with her too late when all he wanted was fun and games because that’s what he was used to doing.
People have to understand that people’s heart and mind aren’t something to toyed with. People are also not items to be used at someone’s convenience and put up on a shelf or toy chest just to pick back up again.
On another note, on a brighter side of things that I took from the video of the guy being in a haunted mansion with this “ghost” girl being seen throughout, is how hauntingly beautiful and creative it was. What is really going on is thoughts of the girl haunting his mind and life. The coolest part is the dance break of him dancing with dead ballerinas. It gave me Michael Jackson’s vibes.
What are your thoughts on this subject, song, and/or video?
LYRICS:
[Verse 1]
I’m a little unsure how it got so complicated
If I let go I know, I’ll regret it
Every heart that I held before, I was sure to break it
I don’t know what you did, but
[Pre-Chorus]
I just can’t stop thinking ’bout you every day
No, I can’t stop now
[Chorus]
Look what we started, baby
You’re not what I expected
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun
Look what we started, baby
I used to look for exits
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun
[Post-Chorus]
I never meant to fall in love
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
I never meant to fall in love
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
Cheyenne, got the table set for two, guess you couldn’t make it
Thought I kissed your lips again, I was dreaming (dreaming)
I still believe that night we shared was something sacred (yeah)
I’m tryna clear my head, but
[Pre-Chorus]
I just can’t (can’t) stop (stop) thinking ’bout you every day
No, I can’t (can’t) stop now
[Chorus]
Look what we started, baby
You’re not what I expected
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun (Cheyenne)
Look what we started, baby (started, baby)
I used to look for exits
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun
[Post-Chorus]
I never meant to fall in love
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
I never meant to fall in love
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
[Bridge]
Cheyenne, Cheyenne
Cheyenne, Cheyenne
[Pre-Chorus]
No, I can’t stop thinking ’bout you every day
No, I can’t stop now
[Chorus]
Look what we started, baby (oh, oh, baby)
You’re not what I expected (woo)
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun (huh, woo)
Look what we started, baby (started, baby)
I used to look for exits (you, yeah)
‘Cause all I ever wanted was some fun (oh, oh)
[Post-Chorus]
I never meant to fall in love (Cheyenne)
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
I never meant to fall in love (Cheyenne)
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
I never meant to fall in love (Cheyenne)
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
I never meant to fall in love (Cheyenne)
I never meant to fall in lo-ove
[Outro]
